DEKALB® offers a wide range of top-performing white and yellow hybrids that are widely adapted for smallholder farmers across South Africa. These DEKALB seed also holds the added benefits of Acceleron® for protection against various soil-borne insects and diseases.

 

 

One of the top-performing hybrids in our yellow hybrid range for smallholder farmers, is SNK2778. This yellow hybrid has a good standability, is suited for both eastern and western production areas and shows good tolerance to gray leaf spot and northern corn leaf blight. One of the characteristics that makes this hybrid stand out, is its good tolerance to acidic soils and soils with high aluminium levels.

In our smallholder range, we also have the DKC73 series which consist of DKC73-72, DKC73-76R and DKC73-74BR GEN. These hybrids are suited for both eastern production areas,

With the DKC73 series you can rest assured of a stable yield, good foliar health, and excellent seedling vigour and standability. This series has a semi-flint grain type and is suitable for silage production. DKC73-76R is also suited as a refuge hybrid for DKC73-74BR GEN.

The last series in our yellow hybrids in the smallholder range, is the DKC80-series, comprising DKC80-30R and DKC80-40BR GEN. These stable yielding, prolific hybrids are suitable for western dryland production areas. Their good standability and excellent seedling vigour makes them top performers in their class. Both these hybrids show good all-round disease tolerance and good performance under stress conditions. DKC80-30R is also a suitable refuge hybrid for DKC80-40BR.

One of the most well-known white hybrids in the smallholder range, is DKC2147. This hybrid offers stable performance under variable conditions and is recommended for eastern production areas. Its good standability, excellent grain and milling quality makes this hybrid a popular choice for many smallholder farmers.

Another hybrid that has earned its spot as one of the most reliable hybrids in the smallholder range, is CRN3505. This hybrid shows an excellent yield performance and prolificacy, excellent grain quality and foliar health and good standability and husk cover. This hybrid is widely adapted and is suitable for eastern and western production areas.

In the white maize category for smallholder farmers, we also find the DKC76-series consisting of DKC76-71 and DKC76-77BR. Both hybrids in this series show excellent yield performance and prolificacy and are widely adapted to both the eastern and western production areas of the country. Their excellent grain quality and seedling vigour as well as their good husk cover, makes them a popular choice. These hybrids are differentiated by their excellent all-round disease tolerance, especially against charcoal rot, and are considered to be the best white hybrids against this disease.

Lastly, we would like to introduce the DKC78-series which consists of DKC78-35R as well as DKC78-45BR GEN. These hybrids show excellent yield performance and prolificacy and good standability and husk cover. They have excellent grain quality and foliar health and are widely adapted to suit both the eastern and western production areas. DKC78-35R is a suitable refuge hybrid for DKC76-77BR and DKC78-45BR GEN.
